Introducing ...

Aoife (Ee'-fuh) Evangeline Daugherty ... 6 lbs, 8 oz.
11:15am

Congratulations :o)

We're doggy-sitting for the handsome Schuyler while his parents (MY parents) are in VA, awaiting the arrival of their newest grandchild (I'm thinkin' a boidh - [laughing at myself]). They left Wednesday morning and I heard from them around 10 pm that night - apparently everyone on Walker Mtn, excluding them, has the flu. Niiiice. Anyway, will update when I hear the tyke has arrived.

In other news - we are 99% sure that we have a buyer for the Camaro! Someone that used to work with Brian - and who coincidentally bought B's OLD Camaro rims - found out we were selling it and stopped by the other night. He should find out by Monday when he'll have our dough. We're relieved but also melancholy about it - we need the money but we absolutely love our red car. Oh well. Now to find a buyer for my car! I was originally asking 9k, but I'm down to 8,300 now. Gotta get rid of it. So ... who wants it?

The Burghardt's are having their Summer Blow-Out tonight - they've invited 50 people to come out and enjoy their new deck. I'm supposed to take my famous triple chocolate cake ... yeah ... I guess I should make that when I get home from work :o)

Lots of things are going on - stuff I may or may not eventually mention out in the blogosphere. We have decisions to make and things to do and who knows when or what will be going on. So ... yeah. We're busy.

Lots of birthdays/anniversaries in July - I think about 10 or 11 things already, and August is a busy month. Brian's birthday is the 6th and KD's coming for the long (I think we're both taking the 7th off) weekend. We haven't made definite plans yet, but there's bound to be a ton o' fun.

For some reason I have been turning on the T the last few mornings while getting ready for work. Typically I am not a morning TV watcher - and barely in the evening! - but I flipped some channels and Saved by the Bell was on. Man, I LOVED that show when I was growing up. Granted I didn't see it a lot, because ahem - I'm pretty sure my cousin broke our TV - but it was a favorite of mine. I heart'ed Zack Morris ... but who can forget Richard Dean Anderson as MacGuyver? Or Ike and Running Buck on Young Riders? (I'm pretty sure Mindy had a crush on Running Buck ... but I could be mistaken :o) Anyway ... my faves :o)

More work to be done. Have a great weekend everyone!

"You've bewitched me body and soul and ... I love you."

Two years ago (7/16/04) I married the man of my dreams. We had a small civil ceremony on a beautiful day, surrounded by family and friends. I wore a green ribbon in my hair, he wore a white rose in his lapel. My mar passed out bubbles and a friend played his violin. As happy as that day was for us ... we're happier now. We've had some pretty bad times, but the outcome of those things have always made us altogether happier.

I married a strong man. Physically, emotionally, mentally. Physically, he works harder than anybody I've ever known, from sunrise to sunset. I love seeing the sweat on his brow and the tattooed biceps rippling. Emotionally, he is my rock. He knows and understands my fears, my strengths, my weaknesses, my dreams and he supports and protects me through all of them. Not only does he support ME, but his family, his friends. He is always listening, always kind and compassionate. Mentally, he is in overdrive. He is so inquisitive, his mind is a constant whirring. He is always questioning, never settling until he knows the proper answer. The light in his eyes endears him to me all the more.

Brian is not a proud man, by any means. He is humble, and pure, and gracious. He has literally given away the shirt off his back for someone in need. He feeds the homeless. He fixes people's cars when they break down in front of our house. He's the first one to volunteer for a project and the last one to leave.

Brian is a lover of all things, especially animals. If we kept every animal we'd ever rescued - we would have a menagerie. It broke his heart to kill the crazy/sick squirrel in our backyard and when he accidentally ran over a baby bunnie with the lawnmower. He's a catch & release fisher. He feeds stray cats. He plays with the toads down by the river. He takes the mean and nasty spiders outside instead of smashing them with a shoe (like I do).

Brian is fun and full of energy. Children love him. He's the guy all the kids want to hang out with because he can push the highest, race his remote control car the fastest, run the furthest, and rebuke the gentlest. When I see him with kids, I think, "What a wonderful father he'll be!"

I've said it before - I love my husband. I love him, I love him, I love him. I love him for so many things, like when he tells me I've bewitched him body and soul - which he does on a regular basis. (So that's pretty romantic, right? and he doesn't even take the credit for coming up with such a romantical thing, but he pays attention and knows how I completely adore Pride & Prejudice and so he knows that I love him a little bit more everytime he says it.) I love him when he lets me be right (even though he's the one who's right); when he lets me win; when he makes my breakfast; when he stays quiet so I can sleep in; when he washes the dishes because he knows I hate it; when he brings me flowers; when he tells me I should go shopping, because I haven't gotten a new purse in a while; when he takes care of my friends; when he tells my mother how beautiful she is; when he tells me the same stories over and over; when he whispers in my ear; when he puts on his cologne before bed because he knows how much I love it; when he dances with me in the kitchen; when he washes my car; when he asks me to shave his face/neck; when he pretends to know what I'm talking about; when he says he can't live without me; when he paints my toenails; when he knows not to talk to me; when he asks me what I'm reading, and the list goes on and on.

So ... happy second anniversary, my love! Know that I love you more now than ever before! For always - BSSR

funny.

A 6 year old and a 4 year old are upstairs in their bedroom. "You know what?" says the 6 year old. "I think it's about time we started cussing." The 4 year old nods his head in approval. The 6 year old continues, "When we go downstairs for breakfast, I'm gonna say something with 'hell' and you say something with 'ass.' " The 4 year old agrees with enthusiasm. When their mother walks into the kitchen and asks the 6 year old what he wants for breakfast, he replies, "Aw, hell, Mom, I guess I'll have some Cheerios." WHACK! He flies out of his chair, tumbles across the kitchen floor, gets up, and runs upstairs crying his eyes out, with his mother in hotpursuit, slapping his rear with every step. His mom locks him in his room and shouts, "You can just stay there until I let you out!" She then comes back downstairs, looks at the 4 year old and asks witha stern voice, "And what do YOU want for breakfast, young man?" "I don't know," he blubbers, "but you can bet your fat ass it won't be Cheerios!"

just for the record, if my kid ever did that to me, i'm sure there'd be a spanking in order ... but it's still pretty cute :o)

edit: this makes me think of the one simpsons episode where homer starts cursing and bart runs downstairs and says, "oh are we cursing?! damn fart damn!"

oh yeah...

july is national culinary arts month, so start cooking, people!

my life is a blur.

so much stuff has happened/is happening in the last couple weeks and i can't keep up with it all, especially since i've been feeling ill. brian's doing a better job of coping i think, but he's so resiliant. i've been really upset with stuff that's been going on at work (anyone know of anything? i really do love my job but sometimes things get out of hand) and other junk. one thing that's made me feel better is we've beeng going to the movies to chill out. so far this summer we've seen:

click
cars
nacho libre (only because it was at the drive-in)
mission: impossible III
superman returns
pirates of the carribean: dead man's chest
x-men: the last stand

we've also rented quite a few, but none worthy enough to really mention. so yeah, we've spent a small fortune seeing movies, but we do love them and it's sooo relaxing.
i finished the tale of despereaux (very sweet) and just started the broker.

we're going to be freakishly busy for like ... the next few months. eeergh.
